WELCOME TO MY JOURNEY

My name is Nikita Hermesman, and I created this website to openly share my story—a journey through the federal justice system, federal prison, and the ongoing path of rebuilding my life with integrity. My intention here is to document each step as I work to make amends, overcome challenges, and rebuild trust. This site will serve as a record of my progress and as a commitment to transparency as I continue to strengthen a support network of people willing to walk this road with me.

In 2023, I was charged with conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud in South Florida, a turning point I could never have anticipated. I was raised in a family that instilled in me strong values: hard work, honesty, and accountability. My father and grandfather were living examples of these ideals, building a reputable business from the ground up in real estate and rental equipment. Growing up alongside my brothers in that environment, I was inspired by their success and the belief that dedication and integrity could lead to a life of purpose and accomplishment.

Moving to South Florida, I aspired to make something of myself. Through various jobs, I found my way into the treatment center industry, where I was introduced to lab testing—a field with promising financial opportunities. Eager to succeed, I quickly dove into learning all I could about sales, testing procedures, and the industry itself. Over time, I formed relationships and secured partnerships with lab companies, though some operated in ways that raised ethical questions. Despite the warning signs, I justified my involvement by telling myself that this was the industry standard. I ignored the voice within, rationalizing that “everyone else was doing it,” and failed to recognize the harm this mindset would cause.

Only a few years later, my choices caught up to me when the lab I worked for was indicted on healthcare fraud charges. Shortly after, I was also arrested and charged due to my relationship with the lab and my role in their practices. From that moment, I knew my life would change forever. I chose to plead guilty and to accept full responsibility for my actions, realizing the long path of amends and repair work that lay ahead. In retrospect, I can see that I ignored crucial warning signs, making excuses instead of listening to the values I’d grown up with.

Since my arrest, I have dedicated myself to making things right. I’ve committed to repaying the losses to Medicare, rebuilding my integrity, and contributing meaningfully to my family, friends, and community. This website is a tool to document that progress, to hold myself accountable, and to develop connections with those who believe in the power of growth and second chances. I hope you’ll follow my journey.
